Immerse yourself in the unforgettable adventure of a winter wedding in the Rocky Mountains in the USA. What an incredible day in Colorado…
I am still so incredibly happy that I was able to accompany this special wedding as a photographer. My husband and I have already traveled to many places in the USA and my big dream was to accompany a wedding in the USA. How happy I was when, after such a lovely video call, I was given the go-ahead to photograph Emily and Leo’s winter wedding in the Rocky Mountains. And it got even better. My husband was allowed to film the wedding video in addition to the pictures.
The journey to Denver and arrival in the Rocky Mountains
The months flew by and the time had finally come in February. We were allowed to fly to Denver and acclimatize there for a day before heading to Granby in the Rocky Mountains at 8000 feet. We arrived at Sun Outdoors in perfect weather. The drive from Denver to Granby alone was unique. The landscape is an absolute dream. Snow, sun, mountains… what more could you want for the perfect winter wedding?
The get-together and Getting Ready
The evening before the wedding ceremony, there was a get-together with all the guests who had traveled from many corners of the world. The wedding day itself started with the “Getting Ready”. Of course, the two were separated in different villas and we were able to capture the two moods during the “Getting Ready”. This is always very special and brings out the excitement and anticipation of this special day.
The magical first look and the enchanting bridal couple photos at Lake Granby
For the first look of the bride and groom, we chose a location close to the wedding venue. I think the pictures say more than my words: just WOW. Emily looked like an ice princess, and I think Leo was speechless for a moment too. After the first look, we went to nearby Lake Granby for bridal photos. My heart did giant somersaults at the scenery and there were many unforgettable moments during the shoot.
An emotional free wedding ceremony and a perfect afternoon
Immediately afterwards, we were allowed to be part of a very emotional free wedding ceremony, which was held by the bride and groom’s two sisters. It couldn’t have been more beautiful. The afternoon was a classic one with a champagne reception and some family photos. And I just wanted to mention again that we were so lucky with the weather. It’s normally very cold and incredibly snowy in the area at this time of year. But this weekend it was quite warm during the day, around zero degrees, and the sun made the day just perfect.
A surprising dress and a second shoot in the sunset
There was another highlight before dinner. Emily had a dress made especially according to her wishes and ideas. Hidden under the fantastic skirt was a sophisticated jumpsuit. And she surprised her Leo with it a second time before they went to the second shoot together in the sunset.
Dinner and the party afterwards…
After very emotional speeches from both dads, there was a great dinner, another tearful speech from the groomsmen followed by an opening dance, which was another highlight of the day.
What a day. Simply unique and unforgettable for me too. It was the absolute dream and I am just incredibly grateful that I was able to experience it and that I can share your moments. You are forever in my heart.
