Getting married on the Zugspitze

A small wedding on the Zugspitze. I was so happy when I got the request from Daniela and Marc. Here I take you to an emotional wedding in the snow….

Yippee – a wedding on the highest mountain in Germany on the Zugspitze. I was so happy when I got the request from Daniela and Marc. This was a long-awaited wish for me. Already during the first phone call it was clear that we understand each other very well and that we just fit together. Soon it was clear that I can be a part of this special civil wedding on the Zugspitze. What an adventure – not only for me.

Wedding at a special place

Daniela and Marc come from Cologne and have used their parental leave to make a round trip through Europe with their RV. They were on the road all summer and at the end of their tour, the wedding on the Zugspitze was planned. For the two a big dream, because they have already hiked on foot to the Zugspitze.

The wedding was only planned for three, or four with me and none of the relatives knew. I always think that is very special and a very great honor when I am allowed to be present at such an intimate wedding.

Wedding in the snow in the Alps

So the three of them were practically out of summer and were wearing summer outfits and were completely surprised that it snowed on the Zugspitze the week before their wedding – a winter wonderland wedding.

In order for the three of them not to have to re-dress, I had packed my Mini full of jackets and blankets, so that no one had to freeze. For the day of the wedding, -12 degrees were predicted on the Zugspitze.

The first meeting at the Eibsee

We met at the parking lot at the Eibsee and also saw each other there for the first time in person, after we had always communicated by phone and messages the months before. What can I say… the first meeting was as if we knew each other forever. Fully equipped, we took off on the cogwheel train. The Zugspitz wedding adventure began.

At the top we were surprised by a panorama that simply overwhelmed us. WOW. A dream of snow, sun and mountains. It could not have been more beautiful. The best thing about it was also: all these jackets we dragged along, we just did not need at all. The sun was just incredibly warm.

The wedding ceremony on the Zugspitze

After a few first photos, we already went to the wedding ceremony on the highest mountain in Germany. In a sweet wedding room with a panoramic view, the two said yes to each other. The little son was best man. The incredibly great registrar held a very wonderful and unforgettable wedding ceremony and Daniela and Marc were already married. A few tears were shed, too.

And afterwards: Unique wedding photos

After the wedding ceremony we took some great wedding photos. These moments simply have to be captured for eternity and finally the relatives should also be informed.

After the couple photos in the snow I was allowed to toast with the three still and eat a small snack, before then still a souvenir was bought and it then went with the cable car back into the valley. What a great day. For me unforgettable and also Daniela and Marc’s words reflect that. The message I received on my pictures also let a few tears flow with me.
