My heart beats faster at every wedding in the mountains. So also at this beautiful and emotional celebration on the Kreuzjochhaus in the Garmisch Alps.
Oh! its such a perfect day, I’m glad I spent it with you. Oh! such a perfect day. You just keep me hanging on… – Lou Reed
You can’t describe the wedding of Annalena and Benedikt much better than this line of text.
I was allowed to get to know these two people of the heart already at the beginning of 2020 and was in love with their wedding plans from the beginning. As absolute mountain people, it was clear to both of them that they wanted to get married together with their most important and closest favorite people in the mountains in the Kreuzjochhaus. They wanted everything – just not a classic, big traditional wedding, where they would not have felt comfortable at all.
The plans were quickly made: the civil ceremony in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, then the joint trip to the Kreuzeck parking lot. After that, we went up to the Kreuzeck by gondola (or on foot for some guests who were keen on hiking). With a small joint hike, it then went to the dream wedding location in the Garmisch mountains: the Kreuzjochhaus. And there was then simply the common comfortable time… A completely uncomplicated wedding celebration with much time for everyone and the common overnight stay with the conclusion of the wedding day with breakfast and in the Whirlpool with view of the mountains. An absolute dream wedding – not only for me as a wedding photographer.
So everything was perfect – and then Corona came… For me, it was clear from the bottom of my heart very early on that this wedding would work out. Maybe the universe heard my (and certainly the bride and groom’s) wishes. Maybe it was just luck or the lasting optimism of Annalena and Benedikt, who waited again and again… So often we were in contact and agreed that one can cancel quickly… But it becomes difficult if one cancels too early and then could celebrate.
And so the two of them waited until almost the end and they were more than rewarded. Their wedding in the Kreuzjochhaus was allowed to take place and that only with very, very few restrictions…
I arrived at the registry office in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in fantastic weather. The first guests were there early and the atmosphere was so warm from the beginning. Even I as an “outsider” photographer just felt super comfortable.
The appearance of the day, however, had Annalena. The First Look, that is, the first time on the wedding day when the bride and groom see each other, took place relatively unspectacular in the parking lot in front of the town hall in Garmisch. But I think I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. Annalena arrived beaming like a Greek goddess. It was an unforgettable moment for all the guests. I don’t even know if I wouldn’t have just fallen over in Benedikt’s place. He must have been the happiest man in the world.
Together they went to the registry office in Garmisch. They gave themselves the yes-word in the presence of their loved ones. Unfortunately, a few friends had to wait outside because of the maximum number of people, but they organized a great reception in front of the door of the registry office… And the photos simply speak for themselves. WHAT A HAPPY DAY.
After the champagne reception in front of the town hall, we went in a motorcade to the Kreuzeck cable car and took the gondola to the top of the mountain. Together we then hiked to the Kreuzjochhaus, which is so beautifully located in the mountains. For me it was the first wedding there as a photographer and I must say that I am simply blown away by the location. Just perfect for a wedding in the circle of loved ones. The mountains right around it, a gorgeous terrace for the champagne reception, coffee and cake with dream cake from dear Hannes from the cake manufactory Max. And for dinner and a long celebration, there are just mega cozy rooms inside and a super lovely staff.
The photographer’s heart beat of course in the middle of the mountains on the Kreuzeck equal double and triple… Just WOW… Such images make you want more, right?
The mood was just perfect, the location a dream, the weather just awesome… What a perfect day. Even almost half a year later, I am still blown away and reminisce about this wonderful wedding.
THANK YOU for letting me share this experience with you. You will forever have a place in my heart and when I look at your wedding photos, the sun rises. Stay forever as you were on your wedding day and shine with love and happiness….
