Because good photos are no accident.

Beginner Workshops

Get out of automatic mode and into photography.

I remember exactly how it feels to hold a camera in your hands and still not really understand what you’re doing. The automatic mode works, but the pictures don’t look the way you imagined they would.

This is exactly where my beginner workshops come in. You won’t learn from dry textbooks, but through fun, structure, and lots of hands-on practice.

In my photo studio in Weilheim, we have the space to understand the basics at your own pace and apply them right away. You’ll learn what ISO, aperture, and shutter speed really mean and how everything works together. Above all, you’ll learn to make conscious decisions. For your subject, your lighting, and your style.

After the workshop, you will be confident in using your camera, leave automatic mode behind, and go home with the good feeling of finally knowing why your pictures are now better.

Understand Photography instead of guessing

I keep hearing that reading the camera manual or watching short instructional videos should be enough to understand how to use the camera. And yet the pictures don’t turn out the way you expected. This is exactly where the beginner workshops come in. You will learn why cameras don’t automatically take good photos and how you can consciously influence the outcome, whether it’s the technology or the composition of the image.

Coaching für Fotografen - ich zeige euch Tipps und Tricks, damit ihr euren Workflow optimieren könnt
01

Technology

In this section, we will explain the technical basics of your camera. ISO, aperture, and shutter speed will no longer be intimidating and will become understandable. You will learn how everything works together and how to get the most out of your camera. In addition, you can test different equipment, such as various lenses, to get a feel for their effects.

02

Image composition

This is about consciously composing images. You will learn what is important so that photos are no longer taken by chance, but have the effect you want them to have. We talk about image composition, eye guidance, and simple rules that make an immediate difference. This is how snapshots become images with meaning.

03

Image editing

This module is about getting the most out of your photos. I will show you basic tips and simple workflows in common image editing programs. You will learn how to adjust light, colors, and contrasts in a targeted manner without overloading your images. The goal is to achieve a natural look that makes your photos appear more high-quality and supports your style.

Understand the basics  and take better photos

Many people believe that you can find all the information you need for free on YouTube, for example, or that the camera will do the rest.

In practice, this often takes a lot of time and causes frustration and uncertainty about the (new) camera. In my workshops, you get structure instead of randomness, personal explanations instead of general videos, and answers to your specific questions. No pressure, no comparisons, and no fear of not knowing something.

You learn at your own pace with lots of fun and practice, understand connections, and quickly realize why your photos haven’t turned out the way you imagined them.

Book a workshop
When you understand what you are doing, images begin to have an effect.

Good photos are not only the result of technology, but also of conscious decisions. Whether you take photos privately or simply want to enjoy better pictures, terms such as ISO, aperture, and image editing are explained in an understandable way and lose their intimidation factor.

You are not investing in a hobby, but in confidence, enjoyment, and lasting results. Instead of constantly searching for new information, you will receive a clear introduction that will help you in the long term.

Your Questions

Do I need any prior knowledge, or is the workshop really suitable for beginners?

The beginner workshops are aimed at all levels of knowledge. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out or have been taking photos for a while and feel unsure.

I tailor the workshop to your individual needs so that you are met exactly where you are. Every participant takes something away with them, regardless of their current level of knowledge.

What camera do I need for the beginner workshop?

There is no such thing as the one right camera. The basic technology behind photography works the same for all cameras. Differences usually only appear in the details, such as light intensity, autofocus, or continuous shooting.

In this workshop, you will learn to better understand your own camera and how to use it optimally, regardless of which model you use.

Can I also give the photo workshop as a gift voucher?

Yes, you can also give the workshop as a gift voucher. A beginner’s workshop is a personal and special gift that will bring joy for a long time to come.

Instead of something material, you are giving the gift of time, knowledge, and new skills. Ideal for anyone who enjoys photography or has a new camera and wants to get more out of it.

Am I really learning to leave automatic mode?

Yes, definitely. The aim of the workshop is to teach you how to use your camera consciously. You will learn how to adjust settings manually and understand how they affect the image.

This means you will no longer be dependent on automatic mode, but will be able to control the result you want to achieve.

May I attend the workshop with someone else?

Yes, that is possible. The photography workshops can be held individually or in small groups. Working alone allows more time for your personal questions.

Working in a group often provides additional motivation and a pleasant exchange, which makes learning even easier and more lively.

Is the workshop more theoretical or practical?

The workshop is very practice-oriented. Of course, I explain the basics theoretically, but always with direct application. It is only through trial and error and doing things yourself that many things really become clear.

There is only as much theory as is necessary to understand the connections. The focus is on you implementing it yourself.

Can I also ask questions about my own camera?

Of course. The workshop will be tailored to your individual needs. If you let me know in advance which camera you use, I will prepare specifically for it. This way, we can work directly on your settings and clarify specific questions that apply to your model.

Will the workshop be beneficial for me if I only take photographs privately?

Yes, especially then. When you know how to use your camera confidently, you can take more deliberate pictures instead of random snapshots. You save time, gain confidence, and don’t have to constantly experiment.

This makes photography more enjoyable and ensures better results in the moments that are important to you.

Are image composition and image design also explained?

Yes. Technology alone does not make a good picture. That’s why we also focus on image composition and design. Depending on your needs, we will work together to see how images can appear calmer, more exciting, or clearer.

The goal is to see motifs more consciously and implement them in a targeted manner.

Is image editing part of the beginner workshop?

If you’re interested, we’ll also cover image editing. Today, this is an important part of photography, similar to how film development used to be. I’ll show you some simple basics for optimizing your images naturally, without distorting or overloading them.
